His body came from Alice's Collections a couple of days ago, and Subject's head is no longer floating. I actually emailed to ask how much longer it'd be, to find that his body and clothes were all ready and another little doll I'd ordered was holding everything up. (It's from Loong Soul so it's not unexpected...!) I have another order with her though, and the two should be ready to go at the same time, so she said she would send it out with that one instead. So now Subject has a body and some clothes! The few photos I'd seen of Dollzone bodies and Kana's white resin looked like they'd be a match, but when it arrived it's actually slightly more yellow than Kana's white, which is slightly disappointing - particularly as they're now doing a sale offering "old white" and I don't know if this resin is "old white" or "new white" because there was no choice when I ordered it... but never mind. I can try to blush him to match a little better (which should be fun with my sub-par blushing skills!) or just hope one mellows to match the other. It's odd: in natural light it's much less noticeable than it is in artificial light, but the image in this post does showcase the difference quite effectively. It is a really nice body though. I swear Lirio is a little jealous, being that he owns the other really nice body, but the DZ one doesn't have a hip joint and the DF-H one does, so I guess Lirio still just edges it out. I've already ordered his eyes from Candy Kitten Emporium, which I'm excited to receive (Subject is currently in the hazel-ish eyes Lirio came with, ironically enough), and now while waiting for the weather to pick up enough to do his faceup I guess I should be making a wig cap and starting on his hair. So much do to! It's always a little daunting, but it should be fun. At least now I've made Paradigm's wig I know a little more about what I'm doing, but it's still a bit scary... Well, practice makes perfect I guess.

Not a typo or a stray auto-filled header! His name really is Subject. I've been writing about Subject (along with two other characters) ever since I had a crack at Camp NaNoWriMo and generated characters by drawing cards from my Storymatic deck. Oddly, Subject was the character I saw most clearly from some pretty unlikely card pulls. (In order, that's Subject, Adama the part-time gravedigger and accidental summoner of ghost, and Pete the architect who almost ran Subject over.) He's a test subject (whose full name is Subject Forty-Seven) for a large pharmaceutical company, and he's spent his entire life as such. But after a large-scale experiment went wrong he was the only survivor and left the facility, although he had no idea where he's going. He ends up embroiled in a weird haunting in a graveyard, mostly by accident... He's also psychic with a particular knack for seeing ghosts, and sets up a YouTube ghost-hunting channel with Adama and Pete. He's a shy, sweet young man who's always determined to do the right thing, particularly if it means he can ease the passing of the restless dead, of which he was very almost one. He's also the originator of some really, really depressing storylines, which is always fun! So knowing what kind of character he was and how I wanted him to look, much like several other of my dolls I didn't think I'd ever really find a sculpt that seemed right. I'd come sort of close with some IoS dolls, but also sort of not... And then Kana re-released her Adrian sculpt, and I couldn't resist. So Subject arrived home today! I was a little daunted, because when I ordered her Eden he turned out to not be Alex, as I'd hoped he would be, but instead is Ais... and is still waiting for a body. So when I opened up this package, I was so worried that he wouldn't be Subject at all. And indeed, once I unpacked him, I did have a little wobble...
And then I saw his head angled downwards, and how pretty and shy he looked, and I fell in love all over again. Now I just have to wait for his body to arrive...! I'd hoped to order it before now, but he arrived so much faster than expected (no customs fee! fastest pass through customs ever!) because Kana is always such a delight to deal with. So now I have to wait before I can do his faceup, in case I need to try to match a little between this and the Dollzone white resin body I've ordered him; he'll be on their 62cm body. Gives me time to shop for his eyes and clothes I guess! When Kana of Kana by KaNa / Rosen Lied announced the preorder of one of her stand-alone doll heads I pounced on it. Her sculpts are so pretty! And, after ordering and waiting very patiently (honest), he arrived home, wrapped so securely that all my quiet worrying turned out to be for nothing. When I ordered him I hoped he'd make a good Alex, which is why Milos is helping — albeit reluctantly — with the box opening. But now I'm not sure... in part because he looks surprisingly good with some blue eyes I had around. Much better, actually, than their actual owner.
So while I figure out which company's body will go nicely with him, I'll have a think. He may yet surprise me further. |
